Ingrid Ponciano, LCMFT
CEO and Clinical Supervisor
Hello! Thank you for visiting Ponciano Counseling and Wellness (PCW). We are happy that you are here and have taken the first and most important step in your journey. We believe that therapy is most successful when there is an intimate and trustworthy relationship between clients and his/her counselor. Therefore, it is important that you get to know a little about who we are.
I am Ingrid, the founder, and CEO of PCW. I am a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Maryland, Kansas, and Vermont. I obtained my master’s degree in Couples and Family Therapy from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
My journey in the mental health field began while working in a community setting at Crosswinds Mental Health Center in Emporia, Kansas, and Emporia State University Counseling Center. After a couple of years working in community settings, I opened a private practice with the intention to expand services to the diverse population of Emporia, KS. My experience working in a college and community setting provided me with vast experience managing behavioral health clinics.
In 2017, My family and I relocated back to Maryland, where I opened a solo private practice. During my clinical years, I specialized in couples counseling, relational issues, depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I accumulated over 12 years of experience helping individuals, families, and couples. However, my desire to help more individuals and the great need for services inspired me to expand. I like to say that these experiences planted the seed that has blossomed and became Ponciano Counseling and Wellness today.
In 2019, the glass ceiling was shattered as I opened Ponciano Counseling and Wellness with the goal of serving our communities by meeting the high demand of Mental Health needs in Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Today PCW is growing and continues to flourish. We currently are a 7 therapist group, each with our own unique strengths and approach to reflect the diversity of the community we serve. Since our establishment, my role has changed, from therapist to Clinical Supervisor and CEO. Our practice continues to expand and develop, in order to meet the needs of our clients. From traditional in-person sessions to teletherapy services, we try our best to make our client’s journeys as smooth as possible.
I believe that my training and experience combined with my leadership and clinical skills, have allowed me to lead Ponciano Counseling to have a greater impact and positive influence on our community. I am proud to run a group practice that utilizes the strength-based lens to empower clients and their families to find solutions to their problems.
I am committed to providing easy access to Mental Health services to clients in Maryland and I welcome you to begin your journey here with us.
