Lisa Isenman, LGPC – Intern

Hello, and welcome to Ponciano Counseling & Wellness. I am completing my Master’s in Counseling at Northwestern University and am thrilled to be part of this dynamic practice. With a BA from Washington University in St. Louis and an MA from Columbia University, I have lived across the country and around the world and have previously worked in publishing, communications, and education.
I embrace the power of a range of evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the Gottman Method for couples therapy to help clients achieve positive change. In addition, I have worked extensively with teens and young adults to help them and their families navigate these years full of both challenges and opportunities. My other professional interests include multicultural counseling and advocacy, and my vision of global access to quality mental health care informs my position as communications chair and executive officer of the International Association for Counselling.
I take a collaborative, proactive, and strengths-based approach to help adults and adolescents both identify goals and create an individualized plan to achieve them. Warmth, empathy, humor, and a focus on overall wellness are also central to my approach.
