Stephany Ponciano, is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor license in Maryland. She obtained a Master degree in Clinical Psychology from Emporia State University in Kansas. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the same university. Ms. Ponciano completed her internship at Crosswinds Mental Health Center in Emporia, KS, where she gained experience working in community mental health as an outpatient therapist for adults and children. In addition, she worked at Flint Hills counseling assisting with Psychological evaluations. During her master education Ms. Ponciano, was the project administration for The Healthy Relationships and Interpersonal Violence Education Program, THRIVE. Which provides her with great experience in healthy relationships, intimate partners violence, sexual assault, and Consent education especially in the teenager and young adult populations.
One of Ms. Ponciano’s interest is in Positive Psychology, she became interested in the topic while conducting research during her Master’s, this approach is part of her repertoire of techniques use in therapy. Currently Ms. Ponciano is a full time Therapist for the YMCA Youth and Family services. In this position, she has gained experience working with children and adolescents ranging in ages from 8-24 yrs. She is certified in the treatment of ADHD. In addition, she is trained in Child Centered Play Therapy.
Ms. Ponciano is passionate about working with clients from all backgrounds, diverse racial and ethnic groups, She is also Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Ms. Ponciano strongly advocates that success, results from a combination of both insight into the client’s lives and changing behavior, combined with social support. Therefore, she uses an integrative approach to therapy based on the individual needs of the client.
