Suzanne Lafauce, LGPC
Hi, I am Suzanne LaFauce. The focus of my work is on helping individuals and couples develop healthier relationships with themselves and the people in their lives.
My philosophy is represented in Steve Marboli’s statement:
“The power to change your life lies in the simplest of steps.”
As someone seeking to transform your life, some questions you may have are:
- What is stopping me from living a fulfilled and balanced life?
- What is my value/worth?
- Am I on the right path?
- Why do I feel anxious for no reason?
- Why is it difficult for me to adapt to change?
I am committed to helping you answer these questions and more as I strive to assist you in empowering yourself to create positive change. My therapeutic approach is client-centered with a focus on the client’s personal strengths. I strongly believe in facilitating a positive environment to empower clients to add tools to their emotional toolbox. My goal is to provide a safe, genuine, and empathic environment, collaborating with the client to facilitate meaningful positive change. I am LGBTQ+ affirming and use a holistic approach to therapy.
It is my privilege to help couples strengthen their relationships. I have pursued further training in Gottman Therapy. Gottman Therapy has been associated with high rates of success in couples’ work. I enjoy assisting couples to build healthy, trusting, and connected relationships. Acting as a facilitator, my goal is to assist couples with resolving conflict effectively, increasing intimacy, and building a life of shared meaning together.
I am a licensed graduate professional counselor in the state of Maryland. My educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Northern Illinois University and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Texas Tech University.
While completing my degree, I worked in the mental health field supporting adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and schizoaffective disorders. Building upon my knowledge and experience, I completed an internship as an outpatient therapist for adults in community mental health services.
While not working, I enjoy biking and hiking outdoors, mindful coloring, reading mystery novels, and spending time with family and friends.
