Annie Sousa, LGPC-Intern
Hello, my name is Annie Sousa, welcome to Ponciano Counseling & Wellness. I am completing my Master’s in Counseling with a Child and Adolescent Specialization at Northwestern University. With a BA and an MA from Florida International University, I have lived across the country and worldwide and have previously worked in communications, education, behavioral analysis, and during the pandemic, as a volunteer by helping different communities navigate their hardships during those times. I am thrilled to be part of this vibrant and empathic practice.
I believe in the support and value of positive behavior and thought. I promote my client’s mental health by exploring their concerns through the lens of human development, focusing on positive psychology, strength, wellness, and prevention. I believe in working with a strengths-based approach to help clients achieve an individual plan that helps them identify their goals and promote their well-being. Furthermore, I help clients reach their goals through the appropriate diagnostics and various evidence-based treatment interventions.
I work with individuals and families in the State of Maryland. I work with individuals and families helping them fortify and discover their skills, build resilience, improve their emotional connection, and take control of their lives.
My master’s program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). I commit to uphold the Codes of Ethics of the American Counseling Association. Consequently, I am committed to supporting, understanding, and validating clients’ existing and emerging concerns from various communities and to cultivating the development of each client in a way that reflects their individual goals, multicultural backgrounds, and values. My experience and commitment to exploring my client’s strengths to resolve life adversities will benefit you.
